I can confirm this bug, using Ubuntu 8.04 32 bit. Ventrilo stopped working for me in RC1 and continues to not work in RC2, it had been working prior to upgrading to RC1. When trying to start it from the command line it just hangs, not doing anything, sometimes ctrl+c won't kill it, I have to kill the process by id. When I try to start it from the applications panel in gnome, a window shows up on the taskbar saying its loading ventrilo, but after a few seconds it closes, and no ventrilo window pops up, but Ventrilo.exe shows up in the output of ps.

--- Comment #3 from Adam gnuman1@gmail.com 2008-05-31 16:22:38 --- I'm using Debian with rc1 and rc2 and it does work, sort of. No sound capture, but that never worked in Wine with my external USB headset

--- Comment #4 from gaz man mail2gaz@yahoo.com.au 2008-06-21 07:10:04 --- Looks like I will have to try to fix this myself as it's come to a standstill...again. I have no idea why it's not working but if someone can have a look at the winsock attachment and make some sugestions it would be really appreciated. As you can see the votes have increased as I have reported this to the Visual Trader forum so lots of folks will benefit from this. Does the following line in the winsock attachment "InternetGetConnectedState always returning LAN connection" have anything to do with this problem?

--- Comment #6 from Jason Melton jason.melton@gmail.com 2008-09-25 08:26:19 --- Just a note that I reinstalled Wine and then reinstalled Ventrilo and it works just fine.
I could not uninstall Ventrilo, even though it appeared to uninstall successfully. However, after the "successful" un-install, when attempting to install, it did the thing where it knows the program is installed and asks you if you want to repair/remove/something else - instead of the install option you get the first time.
