I have mouse jump problems on mouseOver inside Wine dialog boxes.

In other words, when I move the arrow cursor over any part of a Wine
window/dialog box (except the top grab bar), the arrow jumps left and up about
a inch. Unfortunately mouse clicks are sent as though the mouse was still where
one would expect it to be. In other words, with the arrow cursor over the Wine
dialog box, the cursor is up and left of where mouse clicks are sent from.
I tried disabling Compiz, with no effect. In fact it appeared that compiz was
already disabled, despite talk of default enabling under 8.04

This is with Wine 1.0, Ubuntu Heron 8.04, a Sony VAIO PCG-FX140 laptop
coppermine 32 bit chip with a 10GiB HD and about 384 MegB RAM

I have similar problem with an win. application called Aldfaer 4.0.5
Aldfear is a Dutch genealogy application, everything works fine, except the
mouse pointer seems to jump off the dialog boxes, also the mouse pointer color
changes from white to black when the jump happens.

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 and wine-1.1.0

Using Ubuntu 8.10
Installed Wine 1.1.11 and also a newer version of the application, Aldfaer 4.1 
I still have the same issues, mouse pointer jumps off the dialog boxes.

Is there a demo/download of this available? Please attach terminal output. Does
a virtual desktop help?

don't know if problem is Wine or application related, but Aldfaer can be
downloaded from here:
      home page: http://aldfaer.net/sitemap/

Aldfaer is a free to use genealogy application, but its only available in the
Dutch language. Just install and run the application, by moving the mouse
between top line (selectable-text) and second line being selectable-icons you
will see the mouse pointer jumping.

I don't have a virtual desktop on my system, so cannot test this, but the
application runs fine under native Windows/XP

Confirming.

By a virtual desktop, I mean wine's virtual desktop. It seems to help a bit.
Run winecfg, select graphics and enable the virtual desktop option.

This is not an application problem, as I remember. I will go back to that
machine later and confirm.

Wine virtual desktop emulation does not improve, still have exact same
problems.

Confirming this very annoying bug in wine version 1.2.2 on Ubuntu 10.10 64bit.
Appears in SportTracks for example.

The cursor in question is shipped with Aldfaer executable and has hotspot
coordinates set to (-1,-1). Page [1] states that "Hotspots should be created
with positive location values. If the xHotSpot or yHotSpot parameter has a
negative value, the actual hotspot has an arbitrary position."

When hotspot coordinates are negative, Wine sets them to (16,16). I guess that
Windows does it differently.
