After processing a file I am unable to save or save as the file anywhere.

A wavelab window pops up with:
An error occurred! The file could not be saved to disk!
Maybe this file is already open in WaveLab or in another application?
Maybe a file with the same name already exists and is write-protected?

Try saving to another place.

The program is available here: 
ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/Download/WaveLab_6/6.1.1.353/WaveLab_6.1.1_Update.zip

When the program installs it creates it's own quick launch icon which is what I
always use and it uses this as the command:
Exec=env WINEPREFIX="/home/scott/.winewl" /opt/wine-staging/bin/wine
C:\\windows\\command\\start.exe /Unix
/home/scott/.winewl/dosdevices/c:/users/Public/Desktop/WaveLab\ 6.lnk

When I try and launch it from the terminal I get this error:
File SYNSOACC.DLL does not have expected interface.

This is no doubt because I am not that computer literate. I realise if it
launches from the quick launch icon everything must be working.

This program has worked for years and the problem was introduced in version
5.5.
