Bug #: 33828 Summary: WinRAR can freeze the whole system Product: Wine Version: 1.6-rc2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: 1and2@gmx.at Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 44846 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=44846 Screenshot from WinRAR an the license window
After a start from the Shareware version of WinRAR, there opened a license window after two seconds (see attached Screenshot). If i Rightclick on a file and then the license window opened during the context menue of the file is open, then the full screen freeze. I can only shutdown the system then. That is very dangerous if there are unsaved data. I have tried it many times, so it is reproducible.
Program: WinRAR 4.20 (32-bit) URL to program: http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar420.exe OS: openSuse 12.3 KDE Screenshot attached.

This is surely a bug of your distro.

--- Comment #2 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2013-06-17 18:46:45 CDT --- Wine is a userspace application, this is a kernel bug. File a bug with your distribution.

--- Comment #3 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com 2013-06-17 18:49:50 CDT --- This is a known issue. To avoid this issue you can always switch back to console mode (CTRL + ALT + F1 for example) and do "wineserver -k", or leave a xterm opened in another workspace and use the switch workspace key (sometimes CTRL + ALT + right/left arrow) and use wineserver -k in xterm.
Not critical, read http://bugs.winehq.org/page.cgi?id=fields.html#importance
