--- Comment #3 from Andrea kaildio@gmail.com 2010-06-03 10:23:17 --- I confirm this.
With a clean prefix, and with a clean SC2 userdir i simple do this steps: - change winver to w7 - disable mmdevapi - start sc2
The strange part is that not always crash at start but most of the time. Sometime i reach the login screen but as soon as i click "connect" i get the crash.
Outputs will follow.
With wine 1.1.44, 1.2rc1, 1.2rc2; always patched with http://phyrex1an.net/sc2-login.diff

One time only output with a stacktrace. Maybe can help but can be related to anything else since is not reproducible.

--- Comment #6 from Andrea kaildio@gmail.com 2010-06-03 10:40:42 --- I have the exactly same problem with the Editor.exe
Editor crash after loading the data, when tries to start the main window; a small window with only the menus ( File, Modules, Help etc ) appear but then the process crash with Blizzard Crash Reporter. It should open the editor's viewport with textures etc.
Also note that the last lines of the output are related to the Blizzard Crash Reporter getting information about the system and not about the crash:

I've created a bug for this too, http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23018 Dont know how to associate it with the game tho.
I've found out some more info about the crashes, game sometimes pass through login process without crashes but then it can crash after finding opponents for a game before countdown appears. I've played 2 games successfully tho (out of ~200 tries).

--- Comment #10 from lubosz lubosz@gmail.com 2010-06-04 15:58:15 --- Patch 15 was released today. The issue stays the same. There is no difference for me when i launch sc2 in a virtual desktop, like reported in the AppDB comments.

I was following the guide from AppDB. It's suggested to cut down load times. But i can reproduce this with XP or Vista too.

--- Comment #14 from lubosz lubosz@gmail.com 2010-06-07 17:29:56 --- Hints in the AppDB comments tell me this may be a 64bit issue. I have this on 64bit, who else? Who can reproduce this on 32bit?

--- Comment #15 from Tom tom.km5vy+winebugs@gmail.com 2010-06-07 17:38:23 --- I am seeing consistent crashes of SC2 with patch 15 on 32 bit.
I cannot check right now that they are precisely the same crashes that you're seeing, but the game stopped working for me exactly when patch 15 came out, and I am running 32-bit Ubuntu.

I still have this issue with Patch16. Not fixed, at least not for me. Disabling "Window Decoration" instead of crashing, the game hang forever at ~80% CPU on a single core.
Using 1.2-r5. I'll test r6 asap.
I willing to provide any kind of debug info if requested.

--- Comment #21 from Robert roppie93@hotmail.com 2010-07-12 15:47:40 --- I did some testing, and after patch 16, stuff crashed again.
However..
I compiled wine from ubuntu 32 bits, using the patch for the blank screen with cursor bug, and did make install from my arch linux 64 bits.. And it's working. It took ages to download the maps, but I got the same problem with ubuntu, which is running sc2 perfectly now.
I'll do some further testing tomorrow.

--- Comment #22 from lubosz lubosz@gmail.com 2010-07-12 20:27:59 --- This bug doesn't affect me anymore after installing sc2 patch 16 and Florian's patch to fix the black screen issue (http://bugs2.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=29498).
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23023
--- Comment #23 from Robert roppie93@hotmail.com 2010-07-13 05:41:14 --- I got it working once more, but the downloading (slow.. slow.. way slower than on windows, say.. 10 minutes on linux compared to 2 seconds on windows) of the maps made me restart SC2, what didn't quite work. It's still magically running sometimes, but most of the times not at all.
Still using wine rc7 compiled on 32 bits ubuntu with florians patch on arch 64 bits.

--- Comment #24 from mephisto123@gmail.com 2010-07-13 07:00:09 --- Map downloading is as fast as in Windows for me. Like 2-3 seconds per map. Dont know what is causing your problem. Try to compile Wine on your Arch x86_64?
