FMS 2.0 alpha 8.5
wine 0.9.61, un modified 'out of the box'
Ubuntu Hardy Heron, AMD64

This program installs but will not run.

It fails with an application error dialogue

"Exception EComPort in module FMS.EXE Registry error (win error code: 6)"

It will not work in any windows emulation 95,2000 etc

Update:

Still in 1.0 RC1.

Also:

This application seems to get further on the very first execution after a
bootup - the main screen appears with menu, but the contents is black. Every
subsequent execution shows the EComPort error dialogue only. This may be
something to do with the windows registry emulation.

Update:

Google search reveals that this is possibly a FMS bug. It occurs even on native
windows systems that do not have a com port. This is of course an ungraceful
exit case for FMS, especially since a lot of controllers are USB now.

Solution:

Create registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\SERIALCOMM

The entries in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE are recreated each time the system
is started. So you have to create the key.
