[Bug 22447] New: Babaschess consumes a lot of CPU

Babaschess is using around 20% CPU1 and 20% CPU2 of my dual core E2100 once
opened, without doing nothing. On Windows you can see that the program only
uses around 0-1% CPU.

What is really strange is that when you open the preferences dialog the CPU
drops to 2-3%, a much nicer behavior like in windows.

There is something clearly wrong because the CPU utilization is excessive, when
the program is doing nothing, no animations, no game analisis...

I guess that maybe wine is re-drawing constantly some of the sub-windows when
there is no necessity to redrawn...

This is not a regression I have always observed this behaviour on this program.

I've tested with 1.5.29 and I indeed get more CPU usage (8% on a core) on idle
than when opening preferences (0-2%).
Don't know if that's significant, though.

FWIW, the log only contains lines like
fixme:wincodecs:PngDecoder_Block_GetCount 0x23c7730,0x33e918: stub

Can you please retry (with preferably an old CPU) to see if the problem still
occurs for you?

Doesn't seem to be much CPU usage right now, or a difference when Preferences
page is open.

Please retest or this bug will be marked abandoned.

I would say this is fixed too.

I tested the program and it consumed 1% resources according to kde system
manager, opening preferences dropped it so that it didnt show any cpu usage at
all.

For me this consistently uses around 10% CPU on either wine 1.9.22 or 1.2.3.
I'm resolving, I guess it is easier to mark as abandoned. Could also be
worksforme but comment 1 and comment 4 talk about some improvements.

Most likely the used cpu impacts the readings. I got 6600K.
