QuickBooks SS 2008 R1 hangs on first run following a successful install and working around Bug 34028 with msxml4.
Subsequent attempts to run the application becomes less and less useful: I assume the data becomes too corrupt to continue.
Workaround is dotnet20.

When the application first starts it asks you to enter your company details and then save the file. After the file is saved QB runs a process to set up the accounts. It's at this point that the application hangs.

Do you have a Rules.Resources.dll in your prefix?
