In Steam on windows, in "My Games" column headers font ("Games", "Status",...)
is bold. In Wine, it is not bold, and somehow messed up.

There's actually a page in steam support with a rather helpful pack of fonts
needed by steam

Somehow it didn't occur to anyone to look there in the first place, always
assuming wine is to blame for everything :)

So how do you install the fonts? Because there is no Windows Control Panel in
Wine.

OK, I just fixed winetricks so 'winetricks tahoma' installs tahomabd, too.
So 'winetricks corefonts tahoma' (or 'winetricks allfonts') should do the trick
now.
You'll need to download a fresh copy from http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks
Make sure winetricks --version says 20090121 or later.

With Tahoma installed it looks better, but not really as good as in windows -
letters are a bit to small.

It's a size or so smaller but it only looks so ugly because you have smoothing
enabled in windows but not in ubuntu. See bug 16729.

Steam now look different and I dont have any problems with font under Ubuntu
10.04.
