Summary: 0.9.60 package for Ubuntu 8.04? Website says yes, package server says no. Product: WineHQ.org Version: unspecified Platform: PC URL: http://www.winehq.org/site/download-deb OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: P2 Component: www-unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: megazzt@gmail.com
I have been asked to upgrade to 0.9.60 for testing bugs I reported in 0.9.59. The Wine website states the packages have been released for Ubuntu 8.04 and provides instructions on downloading them. However this package does not appear to exist yet! I would attribute this to the fact that 8.04 was only released yesterday and so building the package started later than usual for a wine release, but the website seems to indicate it should be out already!
http://www.winehq.org/site/download-deb has the user execute the command under Ubuntu 8.04:
sudo wget http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/sources.list.d/hardy.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winehq.list
However http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/sources.list.d/hardy.list does not exist on the server.
After looking at other files in the directory and obtaining the package servers for previous Ubuntus, one could guess the sources.list entries to be:
deb http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt hardy main deb-src http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt hardy main
However again we get missing file errors if we attempt to apt-get update since there is no /debs/hardy on the server.
I can understand if the package is not available yet but the website would seem to state that it is! IMO the instructions should not be updated for a new distro versuib until a wine package is available for it.

--- Comment #2 from Dan Bugglin megazzt@gmail.com 2008-04-25 16:58:00 --- I do not see either of those.
C:\Documents and Settings\The MAZZTer>nslookup wine.budgetdedicated.com Server: buffalo.setup Address: 192.168.0.31
Non-authoritative answer: Name: wine.budgetdedicated.com Addresses: 88.159.206.7, 81.171.111.184, 81.171.111.184
(Yes, I'm not in Linux ATM)
It seems that wine.budgetdedicated.com has three mirrors. I bet we're seeing different ones, and at least one of them is out of date and does not have the hardy heron package or source list!
http://88.159.206.7/ I don't see it here http://81.171.111.184/ But it is here. http://81.171.111.184/ and here.
When I get back on linux I expect if I hardcode the IP instead of using the hostname I'll be able to upgrade wine. But that one server is going to really confuse and annoy 1/3 of users 1/3 of the time.

--- Comment #4 from Scott Ritchie scott@open-vote.org 2008-04-26 20:22:23 --- That's odd, I didn't think there were ANY mirrors anymore. There used to be a silent mirror keeping itself up to date with rysnc, but as I understood it would be going away.
The 88.159.206.7 doesn't appear for me when I do an nslookup like Dan did, even when I try multiple times.

--- Comment #6 from Dan Bugglin megazzt@gmail.com 2008-04-26 22:38:56 --- I still get 88.159.206.7 as a mirror with nslookup, and it is still out of date, but now 81.171.111.184 is being returned as the first IP and I had no problems when I went back into Ubuntu with updating Wine. It could just be me, although it's possible the order was changed because someone noticed the problem I guess.
Well my issue is resolved, so one of you guys can close it if you want. I'll leave it open in case you guys would rather leave it open until it goes away or Scott has it fixed.
