Created attachment 51646 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=51646 The .log file with errors
Hi! I want to report that Steam installation has a problem here. I am posting the log as attachment, but it is PlayOnlinux. Why PlayOnLinux - I am not gone do very the same in console now as the installation was long for running Resident Evil 5. But I am 100% sure this problem is releated to Wine and will be the same also in non-POL installation. Actually, I am not 100% sure what the problem is, but the log puts out one error that POL members which I reported a problem with Resident Evil 5(here you can see my problem: https://www.playonlinux.com/en/topic-13184-Resident_Evil_5_Gold_Edition_Stea... ). It may be reason why Resident Evil 5 not run, so I have to ask it here as POL can't help with Wine errors. The POL log is in attachment. Please, don't reject this - this may be important for multiple people!

--- Comment #1 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- That log shows you running with PlayOnLinux (unsupported), initially with an old wine version (1.7.33), then with 1.7.42-staging.
This is definitely not a valid bug report, read http://wiki.winehq.org/Bugs for how to file a proper one and try again, with vanilla 1.7.44.

--- Comment #2 from Adrians Netlis adriansnetlis3@inbox.lv --- I have set 1.7.44 as a Wine version for that virtual drive. I don't know what's the problem and why it shows 1.7.42-stagin there. It was installed with 1.7.33 using default Steam installer and than changing it!

Attach output using wine-1.7.44 without using POL or its prefixes.

If binaries aren't available, you can build from source: http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#head-7ed3c3163e2b932ee2030a48f9c5e553dc41817b
in any case, please ask questions about getting/building wine on the forums. Bugzilla is for bug reports, not user support.

--- Comment #7 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com --- Looks like some of that could be caused by bug 38493.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38721
--- Comment #8 from Adrians Netlis adriansnetlis3@inbox.lv --- I cannot succeed neither to find binaries nether build from source code. There is no .deb for Ubuntu 15.04 with Wine 1.7.44:(
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38721
--- Comment #9 from Adrians Netlis adriansnetlis3@inbox.lv --- I uninstalled the Wine and tried to copile 1.7.44 without success. I did `sudo make uninstall` in wine-1.7.44 directory after. However, now, when I try to install back the Wine 1.6.2 from software and updates center it can't pass apt-get(the beggining of installation). What could cause this? I can't run a lot of apps without Wine!

--- Comment #10 from Adrians Netlis adriansnetlis3@inbox.lv --- user@user-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install wine [sudo] password for user: E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable) E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?
And this is in terminal... :(

--- Comment #12 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello Adrians,
it seems there is a misunderstanding here. This is a bug tracker and *not* a help forum.
* you use unsupported Wine builds (wrappers) * you use outdated Wine releases * distro package problems * your WINEPREFIX is broken
To address those things, please visit WineHQ user forums and get help there -> https://forum.winehq.org/
Unless you provide logs made with plain Wine 1.7.44+ running the game in a new(!) 32-bit WINEPREFIX no one is going to help you here.

--- Comment #13 from Adam Bolte abolte@systemsaviour.com --- Tested RE5 (in Steam) with a clean Wine 2.7. Like most (all?) games in the RE series, RE5 needs wmp10 installable by winetricks, followed by windowsmedia-kb942423-x86-intl.exe to run. After that, the game launches fine.
Installing d3dcompiler_43 d3dx9 and xact_jun2010 as per the appdb page is no longer necessary. There's been quite a lot of progress over the last couple of years.
I believe this bug report is good to close.
