Responding to your concern about whether it can be
built and/or whether the bisect would take too long:

Won't know until you try, I suppose.
You can always install an old version of Red Hat to
do the regression test on...

If you don't think a regression test is the way
to go, feel free to provide some other clue,
e.g. a shell script that runs the app successfully
and shows what variables need to be nuked to keep
win16 apps from going crazy (say).
