Bug #: 31235 Summary: League of Legends minimap corrupted Product: Wine Version: 1.5.8 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: mindalot@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
While running League of Legends (either using a compiled, patched 1.5.8, or using PoL 1.5.5-league) the minimap is corrupted (it is there, but something else/blocky is being drawn over it.
I can workaround it in game, but turning vsync on/off multiple times until it clears. This must be done for each game, so can be a very annoying workaround.
No idea if this is graphics/driver/or wine related, so not sure what logs/ect would be most helpful.
I'm new to wine/linux - so any requests for data would be faster if the actual command lines to attempt to run are given.
running Intel I5-3570k listed graphics is VESA:CYPRESS - but it is GIGABYTE GV-R585D5-1GD-B Radeon HD 5850 (Cypress Pro) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 os ubuntu 12.04 lts 32-bit (I might try 64 bit sometime after people stop talking about bugs/regression related to it)

--- Comment #1 from Danilo Riffo danriffo@gmail.com 2012-07-17 16:33:01 CDT --- I have the same issue, but it isn't too bad.
I also have an HD5000 series video card (XFX HD5570) with proprietary drivers 12.6.
Tested lots of different antialiasing (MSAA, AMSAA, SSAA), anisotropic filtering settings, mipmap detail settings, but nothing happens.
Seems to be a driver-related problem. Let's see next driver update.

--- Comment #2 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2012-07-17 18:02:10 CDT --- Well, you two have different card/drivers, so while it could be driver related, it's less likely.
What patches are you applying to 1.5.8. Can you attach a screenshot/terminal output.

--- Comment #3 from mindalot@gmail.com 2012-07-17 22:12:19 CDT --- having difficulties getting a screen capture saved - also, where is a decent place to upload the picture if I can get one?
It also seems that league on wine does not want to run for me (1.5.5 built from the script on the league of legends app page) anymore. So I'm back to using the Play On Linux 1.5.5-league version for now. Trying to see if they can tell me what patches they have installed (because it not crashing as often, the PoL version behaves similar to when I was using 1.5.8 compiled with patches using the script on the app page).

--- Comment #4 from mindalot@gmail.com 2012-07-27 21:26:24 CDT --- well, I cleaned out my graphics drivers and installed the latest ATI drivers.. and it resolved my corrupted minimap. Using wine 1.5.9.
At least, it did for the first spectate and private game I made.

--- Comment #5 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com 2012-08-31 21:19:11 CDT --- Did you use plain wine 1.5.9 when you tested? If not, please, test again in plain wine 1.5.12 and post the results. You can attach the screenshots here in the bug report. The bug may have been fixed between 1.5.8 and 1.5.9.

--- Comment #6 from Danilo Riffo danriffo@gmail.com 2012-08-31 21:36:11 CDT --- after the first rengar update (a couple weeks ago) this is solved for me.
seems like it wasn't driver relted bcs I haven't updated them or my kernel.
using wine 1.5.5 compiled with the script on the winehq appDB LoL page.

--- Comment #7 from mindalot@gmail.com 2012-09-01 08:15:48 CDT --- Are you sure your graphics don't auto update?
I believe my problem was solved before the rengar update, but I could be wrong.
As for using "plain wine" 1.5.12 - do you mean without the 5 LoL patches ? I only ask, because I did not know the 5 LoL patches have been mainlined.

--- Comment #8 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com 2012-09-01 08:20:09 CDT --- By plain wine or vanilla wine I mean without PlayOnLinux/WineSkin/WineBottler or other sort of wrapper. Sometimes they add custom patches/hacks to get past certain problems that may hide issues.
I don't know that are the LoL 5 patches so I can't tell if they got in =)

--- Comment #9 from mindalot@gmail.com 2012-09-05 19:54:16 CDT --- I tried to run league using 1.5.12 with no patches, it after entering password, and I still get a flood of fixme messages if I don't disable them.
Should I post the pastebin for the crash output here, or open a new bug for that? (since it is not related to the minimap problem) ?

--- Comment #13 from vienna zocker_07@web.de 2013-08-22 18:05:32 CDT --- I got the same problem running gentoo with the latest ati-drivers-13.6_beta. It turns out, that I had to downgrade my kernel to 3.9.0 and build the ati-drivers-13.1. That fixed those textures flashing over the minimap.
