Gray screen on OnePlus 3T

After running Win3.0 RC3, first unpacking, then writes "Setting up windows
environment".
After that, the gray screen (as in the screenshot).

I used the ready-made ARM package from the wine site
(https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/android/).
The ARM64 package is not available for Android download.

I have exactly the same problem as this bug but it has gotten no traction since
the build they were using, now with 3.0 being released, I'm hoping it will get
more attention.

I can provide any logs needed as well as manual verification of things in the
/data dirs since I am rooted.

After intalling and running Wine 3.0 ARM from
https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/android/, it unpacks, then shows "Setting up
windows environment". After that, the screen goes grey and stays like that. I
have let it sit for over 10 minutes with no changes in the log, other than
recognizing touch events. I'll attach a log

After running the application, I see how the files are unpacked, and then a
black screen appears. This problem was in version 3.0 and 3.1. Device: xiaomi

Same here (Android Oreo)

It might be an Oreo bug.

Logcat says the same like posted before.

I could run test build for you once you haven't an Oreo device or you could use
an emulator

Xperia XZ has the same issue, even with the newly released Wine 3.8 build for
ARM. I believe the issue is caused by the new permission system introduced in
Android 8.0, as people with Android 7 are much less likely to encounter the
issue, however, people on Android 8 are almost guaranteed to encounter it.
I think the issue status should be advanced to New, as many users have
confirmed it. With Android 8 updates rolling out to most modern smartphones, I
think this should be addressed soon.

Still the same on the newest build.
At this point, I'd recommend granting every permission and see if it works like
that. If it does, then start taking away permissions until it doesn't, and
we'll find the issue.
If it doesn't, then I'm fresh out of ideas. These phones worked before the
update. I'm fairly certain that Android 8 is blocking some resources from wine,
and the only way we could grant those is by using permissions.
Could the app have some out of date functions for loading? The loading stops
after setting up the windows environment, it allocates exactly 35MB of RAM and
I can see constant CPU usage, even though it's just a grey screen. The issue
with the "out of date function" theory is that apps much older than wine still
work flawlessly with Android 8.

Other apps using API level 17 seem to work fine on Android 8. Perhaps android 8
blocks high resource access to those using smaller levels? With the new
"security" additions, that would be a guess of mine.

Version 3.13 tested, black screen persists. Memory usage peaked at 42MB this
time around. Messing around with permissions creates a warning stating that the
app is "designed for older Android devices" and "changing them could lead to
instability", which makes me further believe it's related to the permission API
in Oreo.

Hi, I have found on my Nexus 6P (OPM6.171019.030.H1) system side solution that
works for me.

In Developer options search for "Set GPU Renderer". Default for me "OpenGL
(Skia)" when I changed it to "OpenGL (Default)" then Wine 3.13 arm started
without any problems.

Got the same (gray screen) issue for this smartphone configuration :

Xiaomi Redmi Note5 Pro (4Gb/64Gb)
Android 8.1.0 OPM1.171019.011
MIUI version : Global 9.6.4.0

Wine APK installed : wine-3.14-arm.apk

will test soon wine-3.15-arm.apk just released on 09/31

I know that this smartphone is 64bits armv8 compliant

I am having the same issue on a Galaxy Note8, model SM-N950U. Also running

Tested on XZ. Same result on 8.1 and 9.0 AOSP, on 4.4 and 4.9 kernel.
Just no chance to get it working.

Still a gray screen here.
Tested device: Nokia 7 Plus, Android One Oreo 8.1.0, security patch August 1st.
Tested version: 3.16 ARM, 3.17 ARM (all pre-build)

I'm on android 8.0.0 with an LG G6, I tested 3.18 and still, grey screen after
unzippig and starting windows environment would appear

Tested on Xperia XZ2 with oreo and pie. With and without root. Still same
result. Blackscreen. App base should be updated for new android reqirements.
Like permissions and souch a stuff.

Can confirm the bug with Honor 5C NEM-L51 Android 8.1 Resurection Remix 6,

This does not look fixed for me.
The behaviour has improved a bit, I can now see a brief flicker of cmd, but
it's covered with a black screen in just a few frames.
Android 8.1.0
OnePlus 5, SnapDragon 835
Wine 3.21

Just wanted to chime in that this *did* resolve my issue with this on a OnePlus
6 (OOS 9.0.2 and Android 9 w/ Nov security update), so it appears to be an
issue with Oreo?

does anyone know if a new bugreport has been made on the CMD flicker reported
in 2/3 comments above?
I have a oneplus 5t OB 18, but but with OB 20 comming shortly and including the
andord 9.0 update id like to report if that fixed the issue somewhere.
but this issue has been closed, so reporting it here isnt very usefull(and
comment #61 mentioned creating a new issue).

supposed to mean? I have been going back and forth to and from this single page
for hours, trying to find a sloution. And I've always ended up with this
hash... if it's even a fix.

Please tell me, where does it lead, I just need a fix so I can play stupid

Sorry, I don't quite understand... Where did you find this hash? Is your
comment related to the black screen issue?

Don't forget that Wine for Android will not likely launch your game, because
almost every Android phone have an ARM CPUs, and most Windows programs are made
to run on x86 CPUs. Wine Is Not an Emulator, so sadly a lot of programs does
not work on the Android version. I recommend to not get your hopes to high.

It's the GIT commit number of the commit that fixed the issue.

This means that whatever fixes the issue is in Wine since that commit.

Clicking the 'Fixed by sha1' link next to field will open the details about
that commit.

It shows that the commit was made November 19 2018, so any Wine release since
then contains the fix.

Just install and use a recent Wine version and refer to bug 46188 if you have
that issue.

Hello.
I have installed the new wine-5.0-rc2-arm.apk build. The issue still persists
for my Oreo device. Grey screen after "setting up windows environment".
