Tomb Raider 2 worked fine in wine 1.5.7 but crashes after the intro video in
wine 1.5.8 with a Microsoft C++ error about the game unexpectedly quitting.

I did a regression test and came up with this:

But when I tried to remove only that patch and rebuild, wine failed to build.
With lots of errors in filtergraph.c in dlls/quartz.

This is a duplicate off bug 31120. The regression is fixed by the patch:
