Bug ID: 48982 Summary: Update of T@X 2020 Business fails Product: Wine Version: 5.6 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de Distribution: ---
Created attachment 66959 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=66959 Backtrace from wine as such
I have been using T@X20XX (say, XX=20 for this years version) for years now - flawlessly under wine. Now it seems as if the supplier introduced new functions that cause the latest update to fail when attempting to activate it.
I started
wine TaxSteuersoftware2020BusinessUpdate271814.exe
and after a short time it bails out with an exception message - please see both the logfile (backtrace.txt) and a screenshot (backtrace.jpg) of the things that happen attached.
Thank you for looking into this - and let me know if I can do anything to support this activity.

Hi,
Now it seems as if the supplier introduced new functions that cause the latest update to fail when attempting to activate it.
Are you sure about this, or could it also be a regression in wine?
There seem to be a few regressions in wine-5.6 afaict so might be worth to check out with current git version (or wine-5.7) when it comes out
Regards

(In reply to Dr. Ing. Dieter Jurzitza from comment #0)
Thank you for looking into this - and let me know if I can do anything to support this activity.
I understand that you are using the following software
https://www.buhl.de/produkte/tax-business
and that buhl provided you an exe-file to apply an update which results in the backtrace being thrown.
I had a look at the site but the update files do not seem to be public and I doubt that buhl will allow you to post them on the web.

--- Comment #4 from Dr. Ing. Dieter Jurzitza dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de --- Dear Bug-team, please find attached a logfile after starting the latest update for T@X. It states "no update necessary" at the end, however, when starting T@X it keeps telling me that there would be an update. Therefore I assume something went wrong - though the behavior is better now as the installer of the update does not crash or terminate unexpectedly. Thank you for looking into this, best

--- Comment #6 from Dr. Ing. Dieter Jurzitza dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de --- Hello team, my apologies - I did not see that two people readily commented on this. Yes, the behavior improved compared to 5.6. The updates may be downloaded at www.buhl.de/updates.html, there is no login required, nothing that would be required. Let me know if I can provide any additional information. By the way, can I configure to get emails in case someone is commenting on my entries? I totally missed the fact that two entries are already there so I did not reply. Thanks again, best

That should be the default. Check https://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email to see your email preferences.
