Bug #: 29776 Summary: Portal: game showing purple textures Product: Wine Version: 1.3.37 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: supimbao@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 38666 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=38666 Wine 1.3.37 log
After installing steam and running portal, on level [bonus maps>advanced chambers>test chamber 16:advanced], some metal textures become purple after a certain time playing the level.
I didn't use -dxlevel for opening that game, I used it right out-of-the-box.
Hardware/Software: Wine 1.3.37 (clean wineprefix, no winetricks used) Ubuntu 11.04 (linux 2.6.38-13) geforce 9600GT (driver NV 270.41.06)

The bug generally happens after you fire a portal.

--- Comment #2 from Henri Verbeet hverbeet@gmail.com 2012-02-02 14:56:04 CST --- It might not be the cause of the bug, but you'll want to try that with current versions of both Wine and the nvidia drivers. Also, timedemos can sometimes be pretty helpful for reproducing the bug.

--- Comment #3 from supimbao@gmail.com 2012-03-16 23:24:17 CDT --- Bug is still present in 1.4, should I change the version in the bug report?
How do I create a timedemo?

--- Comment #4 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy-bugzilla@kievinfo.com 2012-03-17 09:30:30 CDT --- Please don't change original reported Wine version. Have you tried new Nvidia drivers? Portal working fine here. To record time demo use command: record <file.name> To stop recording: stop

You need to start the game and start playing the demo just after that, or else the bug won't show up.

Created attachment 39418 [details] Timedemo from portal with wine 1.4 (compressed with Gzip)
You need to start the game and start playing the demo just after that, or else the bug won't show up.
After testing I found out that sometimes the bug won't show up anyway, if that occurs, try playing the timedemo again.

I managed to record a demo that will always show the bug (at least here on my system).
Sorry for posting a lot... :(

--- Comment #12 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for two years. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.25 or newer) wine?
