Bug #: 30729 Summary: EVE Online crashes on attempt to move window Product: Wine Version: 1.5.4 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: phoenix@mail.ru Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 40234 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=40234 Crash log
1. Log into eve 2. Try to move (drag) or resize any in-game window (for example, chat)
Result: Game freezes, glibc error is printed to stdout (see glibc_err.txt). Both current Tranquility (main live server, version 369870 atm) and Singularity (test server, 375815) clients are affected.
Today my machine (Debian Testing aka Squeeze, x86_64, running on ASUS G72GX laptop) received handful of updates, after which this bug appeared:
1) Wine from the pre-1.5.4 release to current git (post-1.5.4, 6c51c1ba1310707a6380cac66aeb06b3f2f3994a), both versions compiled myself 2) NVIDIA binary blob from 302.07 to 302.11 3) Regular daily debian updates (apt.txt)
Then i went through all of these: 1) Tried with Wine 1.5.4 from git 2) Reinstalled video driver of version 302.07 3) Tried with Wine 1.5.3 from git 3) Tried with Wine 1.5.2 from git
Neither of points helped, thus it seems problem is in system update, which besides other things included X update:
[UPGRADE] xserver-common:amd64 2:1.11.4-1 -> 2:1.12.1-2 [UPGRADE] xserver-xephyr:amd64 2:1.11.4-1 -> 2:1.12.1-2 [UPGRADE] xserver-xorg-core:amd64 2:1.11.4-1 -> 2:1.12.1-2
I'm not 100% sure this is Wine bug (could be Debian / NVIDIA driver / X.org-specific issue), but feel like Wine bugtracker is a good starting place.

--- Comment #3 from Anton Vorobyov phoenix@mail.ru 2012-05-20 03:20:50 CDT --- Tried installing EVE from scratch today, here how it looks:
1) Start with clean prefix 2) Download http://content.eveonline.com/369870/EVE_Online_Installer_369870.exe and launch it, on git version it installs EVE client w/o problems 3) Add msvcr100 override to "builtin then native" to make it possible to launch client 4) Launch EVE using wine "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe" 5) As soon as EULA window is shown, try to scroll it (maybe even clicking it is enough)
Result: Game crashes with the error similar to the one mentioned in 1st comment

--- Comment #4 from Anton Vorobyov phoenix@mail.ru 2012-05-20 03:35:47 CDT --- Installing older packages solved an issue:
xserver-common_1.11.4-1_all.deb xserver-xephyr_1.11.4-1_amd64.deb xserver-xorg-core_1.11.4-1_amd64.deb xserver-xorg-input-evdev_2.7.0-1_amd64.deb xserver-xorg-input-synaptics_1.5.99.904-1_amd64.deb xserver-xorg-input-wacom_0.12.0-1_amd64.deb

--- Comment #5 from Anton Vorobyov phoenix@mail.ru 2012-05-20 03:51:25 CDT --- Guy on forums reported that he has no such issue in following configuration:
Arch Linux kernel 3.3.6 NVIDIA Driver Version: 295.49 X.Org X Server 1.12.1 wine 1.5.2 amd64
I tried xorg 1.12 + NVIDIA 295.40, didn't help, it seems that only reverting xorg update helps in my case.

--- Comment #6 from William Waghorn willw@litany.me.uk 2012-05-27 12:39:03 CDT --- This is probably a 64bit Debian specific issue; I had this exact same issue.
I fixed it by replacing /usr/lib32/libXi.so.6.1.0 with the one from the libxi6_1.6.0-1_i386.deb package (see /usr/share/doc/ia32-libs/README.Debian).
I'm guessing the xserver-xorg-core changes for 2:1.12.1-2 "many XI 2.2 fixes." expect this updated version of libXi.so.
