Summary: Photoshop CS2: Strange behaviour of window overlays Product: Wine Version: CVS/GIT Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: pascal.duersteler@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=10543) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=10543) Splashscreen and toolbar
Windows overlaying strange in CS2 with Wine 0.9.54, see Screenshots for details. Examples for two cases as attachments.
Splashscreen overlays every other application like terminal, firefox, ...(funky background is from photoshop main window)
The toolbar on the left side is from Photoshop CS2 which is opened fullscreen but overlayed by ImageReady CS2 » Photoshop toolbar overlays everything other
Also when working with more than one image, clicking on another image window in photoshop sets it between otehr windows instead of setting it into foreground which is very annoying

--- Comment #2 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2008-01-31 09:43:20 --- Reporter said in email that in windows you can indeed put app-windows over the splashscreen.

--- Comment #3 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-01-31 11:18:00 --- Sounds like a dupe of bug 11390. Is this a regression?

--- Comment #5 from Pascal Dürsteler pascal.duersteler@gmail.com 2008-02-01 06:43:11 --- (From update of attachment 10558) Splash screen problem is trivial, i think the z-order (now i know how it's called!). I recently found out that if you work with more than one image at the same time, z-order also fails » inactive image containers sometimes overlay the focused and active image container.
Does this go into the same bug or should i report a new one? Attached another image

--- Comment #6 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2008-02-01 08:03:42 --- The splash screen has always been way in front, so that part's not a regression.
Pascal, yes, let's make this bug for the splash screen. Please put the active window z-order problem in a new bug. That one will be higher priority.

--- Comment #8 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2008-03-07 08:44:50 --- This problem persists today. To repeat, start Linux Firefox, then start Photoshop CS2, then try to bring Firefox to the front. You can't. Linux Firefox can't display itself in front of the splash screen (but Firefox's pulldown URL menu can).
This problem is annoying only because the splash screen stays up so darn long, and it'd be nice to be able to do something while you wait for Photoshop to finish loading.

Annoyingly, I can't retest, as there has been a regression in the trial installer. I'll file a bug for that next.

--- Comment #16 from tom@wellmadewebsite.co.uk --- The windows are still overlaying. But only after first use. Ie i can start CS 2 and move between programs without a problem but as soon as i touch a layer or a tool then that window will stick at the front. Interestingly i also have CS installed as well and that works fine and always has done. (But i need cs2 to open cs6 files that get sent to me). wine 1.4.1
