Summary: Far Cry - Enabling shadow maps produces visual distortions Product: Wine Version: 1.1.25 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: dsent.zen@gmail.com CC: dsent.zen@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=22432) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=22432) Visual distortions - shadows set to "Very High"
Enabling shadow maps in Far Cry produces some sort of visual distortions in buildings. The most easy way to do it is setting "Shadows" in advanced video settings to anything above "Low" - the option works instantly in-game despite "You need to restart game to apply changes" message. Attaching screenshots.

Forgot to mention that I'm using 8800 GTS 512 with the latest nvidia proprietary drivers.

My instructions to reproduce bug weren't accurate. One must set shadows to "Very High", then throw a grenade inside building to get these distortions. Attaching a log ("wine FarCry.exe > wine.log 2>&1"). Shadows and grenades are somewhere in the middle of it :-)

--- Comment #3 from byteframe byteframe@yahoo.com 2009-07-23 00:42:52 --- I have this problem to, in the direct3d renderer of far cry. It could be a problem with the farcry code (its differention between outside and inside), but I wouldn't but it past being a wine bug. I'll try to get access to a windoughs machine to test, then post debug.

No such problem here: * wine-1.2-rc1, wine-1.3.3-380-gc6e1a0c * All setting set to "Very High" * nVidia GT240 v 256.53 * Debian Squeeze 32bit
Could you attach save game with granade ready? Maybe it happens only in some buildings.

--- Comment #7 from John P Sims jsims2359@gmail.com 2012-03-09 22:10:13 CST --- Is this still valid? I just tested Far Cry (GOG version) with wine-1.4 and rated it platinum in the AppDB. I haven't seen any distortions. Anybody?

--- Comment #8 from byteframe byteframe@gmail.com 2012-03-10 13:26:16 CST --- I ran through the first level of farcry, and it does appear that this bug is fixed. There are no problems with outside or inside shadows as far as I can see. :)
