The demo installs fine but will not run. No output is given in the terminal and
must be killed manually. The process takes up 100% of one of the cores in my
processor but does nothing.

This is a regression which appeared between wine-0.9.60 and wine-0.9.61. Please
do a regression test (I have no time to do it today).

It starts and runs just fine with current git for me. If possible, could you
upgrade to current git and retest?

I have had some strange results here.

I upgraded to the current git version and used a clean ~/.wine. Reinstalled and
tested. It initially refused to run as it had before.

Through various testing I found that if I redirected stderr to a file it
started and would then start normally after that. Also if I closed and reopened
the terminal I would have to repeat this procedure.

Runs here fine, too.

Probably a driver bug or it is fixed with todays git?

My specs:
Geforce 8800GTS
NVIDIA binary driver 171.06

I have retested with the wine 1.0-rc2 and the latest nvidia drivers 173.14.05
and it still wont start properly.

I tried to do a regression test between 0.9.60 and 0.9.61 and couldn't get any
consistent results. As sometimes it would run and sometimes it wouldn't run
with the same version.

I have tried the full game and it worked fine.

ummm, yes my quick test regression was false. I think that it is a timing
issue. Really hard to catch

Wine wine-0.9.60 sometimes it runs, sometimes not (same bug.....)

I have a nvidia geforce 7600go with the latest drivers 173.14.05

Anyway, it is not a bug driver, since I tried the demo on my amd 1800+ with a
geforece3 and driver 96.43.05

Try again with the latest revision of wine.
I was able to install that demo and played through the entire demo. On ubuntu
8.04 wine 1.0-rc3 with a 8800gt with the 169.12 nvidia drivers
