Summary: Trivial Pursuit Digital Choice does not detect the USB device game pod Product: Wine Version: 1.1.17 Platform: PC URL: http://www.hasbro.com/trivialpursuit/tpchoice/default.cf m?page=Entertainment/Download OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: frail.knight@gmail.com
The game pod is not detected when you hook it up by USB and run the application. Trivial Pursuit Digital Choice displays an error stating:
"There was an error connecting to your handheld. Make sure it is plugged into your PC and it is powered on."
Upon clicking ok it prompts you with another dialog box asking you to connect the handheld and click ok to try again. No amount of retrying leads to a solution. The program will continue to error and prompt you until you select cancel and the program exits.

--- Comment #5 from Jason Heeris jason.heeris@gmail.com 2009-12-30 07:35:24 --- I tried the patch from bug #8783 ("Damjan Jovanovic's patch rolled against 1.1.14" by Rich) against 1.1.35, and it did not work. Note that there are no /dev/ttyUSB* devices created upon powering on the device. Attached dmesg output and debug ("+comm") output.
This is under Debian Squeeze, stock 2.6.30-2-amd64 kernel.

--- Comment #8 from Ben Klein shacklein@gmail.com 2010-03-17 23:27:27 --- The device is clearly not a USB serial device. I just bought one; it seems to me that its only USB connection is a standard mass storage device with a proprietary filesystem on it.

--- Comment #10 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com 2011-11-16 06:38:22 CST --- It may be a composite device where in the mass storage is the driver for the joystick. The dmesg may have been cropped.
[ 1764.534141] sdb: unknown partition table
The user can run testdisk in that device to be sure there is nothing there. http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk

--- Comment #11 from Ben Klein shacklein@gmail.com 2011-11-16 07:07:00 CST --- I recall testing the mass storage component of this device to see if it has anything to do with the questions/answers, and discovered that it doesn't.
Some time soon I'm going to have to test it again, possibly with a USB sniffer.
