Summary: EVE Online crashes on startup from fresh install of EVE Client. Product: Wine Version: 1.3.10 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: iiridayn@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=32729) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=32729) Console commands used - LANG was used to translate Wine error message to English and had no other impact on the messages.
When running EVE Online, which installed again following the normal workarounds, I received this message:
"The program ExeFile.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
This can be caused by a problem or deficiency in Wine. You may want to check ..."
Because the game runs fine on Windows, I suppose that either Wine or my local configuration is in error - however, having a localized system is probably the oddest thing about my configuration.
Also, the Wine desktop doesn't close when the client crashes, causing the need to kill it.

--- Comment #1 from Alan Luth alanluth@gmail.com 2011-01-05 02:15:32 CST --- This is not a wine bug, please read the output it actually tells you what is wrong.
err:winediag:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo Direct rendering is disabled, most likely your OpenGL drivers haven't been installed correctly
Install your drivers propperly and the game should work.
Suggesting to close this bug as it is not a wine bug.

--- Comment #2 from iiridayn@gmail.com 2011-01-05 02:49:34 CST --- What information should I post to demonstrate that my OpenGL drivers work? glxgears runs perfectly, glxinfo dumps a fair bit of data including the line "direct rendering: Yes".
Forgive me for making the assumption that it would be obvious that I had already tested that to the best of my ability, I should have known that on some bug trackers that is the exception and not the norm.

--- Comment #3 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2011-01-05 02:55:39 CST --- You probably lack 32-bit libraries for your drivers. glxgears is usually 64-bit on an x86_64 system.

--- Comment #4 from iiridayn@gmail.com 2011-01-10 22:43:38 CST --- Appropriately enough, this was indeed not a wine bug. I was able to install the 32 bit libraries for my system and fixed the next error and it works at least as well as for others who are running it. Thank you for your help - at least in telling me what was wrong.
