Summary: Dora's Carnival 2: Boardwalk Adventure uses only small part of screen Product: Wine Version: 1.2 Platform: x86 URL: http://downloadcdn.shockwave.com/pub/doras-carnival-2- boardwalk-adventure/InstallDorasCarnival2BoardwalkAdve nture.exe OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: download Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: winex11.drv AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: dank@kegel.com
After working around bug 23749 and bug 13496 with 'sh winetricks ie6 msvcrt', the game runs nicely... in a quarter of my screen. +x11settings shows
... trace:x11settings:X11DRV_EnumDisplaySettingsEx mode -1 (current) -- getting current mode (XRandR) trace:x11settings:X11DRV_EnumDisplaySettingsEx mode 0 -- 1280x1024x32bpp @50 Hz (XRandR) ... trace:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx DM_fields=BITSPERPEL,PELSWIDTH,PELSHEIGHT,DISPLAYFLAGS,DISPLAYFREQUENCY trace:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx width=800 height=600 bpp=32 freq=50 (XRandR) err:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx No matching mode found 800x600x32 @50! Seems we're confusing ourselves by reporting 50Hz?
Very similar problem reported in http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=6526 (wine-users, oct 2009) about a different flash game, Hidden Expedition Titanic, probably with wine-1.1.31.

--- Comment #1 from Dmitry Timoshkov dmitry@codeweavers.com 2010-07-26 09:35:50 --- How does the 'xrandr' output look like?

Is this still an issue in wine version 1.6-rc4 or higher or is this to be closed as abandoned ?

Please stop spamming with useless questions, test the bugs yourself instead.

--- Comment #4 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2013-06-30 12:55:01 CDT --- Tried again in wine-1.6-rc4. With no native dlls, runs fine... but asks for a resolution that is a quarter of the screen's real resolution. Ubuntu 13.04 helpfully lets me pan around the screen, great.
xrandr before running says
Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 8192 x 8192 DVI-I-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) VGA-0 connected 1280x1024+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 376mm x 301mm 1280x1024 75.0 + 60.0* 1024x768 75.0 70.1 60.0 800x600 75.0 72.2 60.3 56.2 640x480 75.0 72.8 60.0 59.9 DVI-I-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) HDMI-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
It also runs into https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/734908 but that's not wine's fault.
A workaround for both is to run in a virtual desktop, e.g. winetricks vd=800x600

--- Comment #5 from super_man@post.com --- IT's hard to describe the behaviour I saw. I 1st thought it was working correctly since it started fullscreen but getting/losing focus showed the issue that game was running in small part of available screen mode.
This seem to be valid issue still
wine 1.7.54

--- Comment #7 from Gijs Vermeulen gijsvrm@gmail.com --- The game starts in full screen for me with wine-7.0-rc3-34-gb6dc8399087, but it does some weird stuff to my monitors. It seems to be different from what was reported here, so maybe we can call this fixed?
Adding stable download.
