Bug #: 35002 Summary: Grand Touring crashes silently with "Stuff It." MessageBox error. Product: Wine Version: 1.7.7 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: Salz85@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 46643 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=46643 Grand Touring debug output using +seh,+relay options.
The Game "Grand Touring" crashes after a selection menu for a videocard and displaying for a few seconds the intro screen, without any recognizable error message from wine.
The application crashes displaying a MessageBox showing a rather cryptic "Stuff It" error message. Yet, only a single error regarding a missing implementation of directplay is shown on the debug output, and disappears by using "sh winetricks direct play" (the game keeps crashing, of course).
I've attached the output of running the application with the "WINEDEBUG=+seh,+relay" debug options.

--- Comment #2 from mr jingle Salz85@gmail.com 2013-11-27 09:52:50 CST --- Well, It seems that the previous bug was abandoned before anyone had verified if installing the direct play libraries would have fixed the issue. I can confirm that the issue remains after installing them on wine 1.7.7 .
From what I can read online, this game uses an early version of the engine later
used for the Ford Racing series, which appears to be somewhat working in wine.

--- Comment #3 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com 2013-11-27 11:36:21 CST --- The game is from 1998, did you try setting wine to windows 95 or 98?

--- Comment #4 from mr jingle Salz85@gmail.com 2013-11-27 16:59:24 CST --- Using "Windows 98" or "Windows 95" makes no substantial difference, still crashing. The game worked fine under Windows Xp, by the way (but not using Windows 8.1, hence trying to run it now with wine).

--- Comment #5 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for over a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.37 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.37 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).

--- Comment #6 from mr jingle Salz85@gmail.com --- Unfortunately, the application keeps giving anatomically inappropriate advices while being tested under wine 1.7.37 (Mac Os X 10.10.2)
I've updated the plain terminal output (no debug channels active) and the +seh,+relay output log.

--- Comment #9 from winetest@luukku.com --- Could someone retest this? We are using wine 2.x series now.

--- Comment #10 from mr jingle Salz85@gmail.com --- Tested under wine 2.13.
The game reaches ingame status, albeit in software mode only (it doesn't detect a Direct3D 6 compatible videocard) and it requires a nocd patch to get past a "missing cdrom" error. Tested using an original game cd (it's a mixed mode disc) on a iMac late 2010 running mac os sierra.

--- Comment #11 from mr jingle Salz85@gmail.com --- Tested this game again on wine 3.11, no changes compared to the last test.
