I have successfully installed the game “Civilization IV” from my DVD by running
the software “Wine 3.0-743.3” once more.

But I get the following information for a corresponding test run.

Does native d3dx9 make it any better?

I do not know at the moment.

But you can see from other database entries that I had this game running to
some degree with a previous Wine version for a while (year 2009 for example).

Using different IID_ID3DXEffect guid's values based off the DLL version was
introduced in the above commit.
