From the appdb:
If you can't read eula/got font issues there is simple fix:
1. Download winetricks 2. In command line run: sh winetricks corefonts
Does this work?

--- Comment #2 from Tymoteusz Paul puciek@gmail.com 2009-04-27 11:06:53 --- It must because eula problem is caused by lack of fonts. Altho i agree that this is partialy wine issue because even if you got corefonts installed in your system wine won't use them (you first have to symlink them into proper folder inside .wine)

I have these fonts in the $HOME/.wine/drive_c/windows/Fonts :
Arial.TTF Arialbd.TTF Arialbi.TTF Ariali.TTF AriBlk.TTF
Wine version 1.1.20
And eve work without issues, this isn't related with a wine' issue.....
Fly safe..

Clear wine is created WITHOUT fonts, you got them because you've put them there.
So, is a problem related with "How to fix font issues" note in the thread ( http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=15922 ) not with Wine itself ?.... and yes, I put the fonts there, I explained it in the old Eve thread on a note( http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=9971&iT... ) :
" - Download mscorefonts from sourceforge.net: http://corefonts.sourceforge.net/ - copy arial*.ttf to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts/ (install ms corefonts package and then search for arial*.ttf on your disk) "
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18221
--- Comment #6 from Tymoteusz Paul puciek@gmail.com 2009-04-28 11:04:17 --- This reminds me why i gave up on explaining anything to you.
To bughunters/devs/other people: issue is that wine is not using corefonts even when you got them installed in your system (you have to make manual symlink with them into wine folder or install them another time with winetricks). Imo upon compilation of wine it should determine folder with corefonts (if any) and include them into fonts folder whenver new .wine dir is created.

--- Comment #7 from Greg Ackerson greg@supersilly.com 2009-06-01 19:35:46 --- I have Arialbd.TTF, Arialbi.TTF, Ariali.TTF, Arial.TTF, and AriBlk.TTF in my windows/Fonts folder, but I still have a blank EULA. I've tried using winetricks corefonts and Wine-Doors. Is there anything else I can try? Is there maybe a way to debug the session to see what font file and its location that EVE is looking for?

--- Comment #8 from Sven Dack sven.dack@ntlworld.com 2009-07-02 10:41:07 --- I can confirm the problem and the work-around by installing the MS corefonts manually.
I also agree on the note that WINE should try to render the text message with a similar font, optimally with the X11 version of the MS corefonts.
It is not some exotic font but likely the most common font family for MS applications and a proper solution may aid many applications with a similar problem.

"How to fix font issues" note in the thread (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=15922 )
Can confirm this worked for me, you'll firstly need cabextract, can be found under software management (or similar) if not go here: http://www.cabextract.org.uk/

--- Comment #12 from Dave Thompson davethompson@olympicsoftworks.org 2009-11-24 11:56:34 --- I also can confirm the arial font bug, but I seriously doubt this is an issue with Wine, as other software seem to find the fonts just dandy. Likey the programmers for EVE are taking shortcuts instead of using discovery routines to get the currently installed locations for fonts, they are simply linking to where they 'Know they are".
On win systems, it's a near 100% safe bet arial will be available, and that it will be in c:\windows\fonts, but on GNU/Linux systems it is almost imperative that software devs use discovery routines to find out what fonts are available and where they are.
Having said this; the workaround by copying Arial/arial, or putting a sym-link to it(depending on your security settings), into the .wine/c_drive/windows/fonts folder works like a charm.
It may be good practice to script a something to create symlinks for all mstcorefonts into Wine's windows/fonts folder for safety from 'errant' coders.

--- Comment #15 from Sven septim.dt@gmail.com 2010-06-22 03:22:29 --- A workaround is not a fix. Since it supposedly works on Windows, it should also work in Wine, and currently it doesn't. Therefor, this bug can't be closed yet.

Overall I tend to degree with Sven.
Dave is making a valid point on the potential that CCP (eve) programmers are taking shortcuts however the program is doing what it is intending to do for windows for which it is written.
Quoting Dave "on GNU/Linux systems it is almost imperative that software devs use discovery routines to find out what fonts are available and where they are"
We are talking about a program written for windows therefore should Wine not potentially cater for this?
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18221
--- Comment #17 from evanh evanh@clear.net.nz 2010-06-22 11:40:05 --- Ah, but Wine is doing the font handling just like Windoze does. In this case it's not Wine that is different to Windoze, instead it's your distro's placement of fonts.
Anyone that shifts or renames their font directory under Windoze will strike the exact same bug.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18221
--- Comment #18 from evanh evanh@clear.net.nz 2010-06-22 12:00:04 --- That said, since the font directory never moves in Windoze, maybe Wine should by default just link the distro's font directory as if it were [WINDOWS]\fonts. Bound to be more than one buggy program that relies on that path.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18221
--- Comment #19 from Dave Thompson davethompson@olympicsoftworks.org 2010-06-22 15:44:53 --- There is other win software in which this 'bug' has appeared. It is not a bug, not really and I have found that it only appears in software that has been hastily compiled using VisBasic or VisC#. So would tend to now lead me to believe that it is not the devs from CCCP or Blizzard that are taking short cuts but the developers of the compilers, ie. Microsoft. Hense, this 'bug' will likely never be fixed on their end.
The overall solution is to have WINE attempt to locate the fonts and sym-link to them in the pseudo c:\windows\system folder it maintains for compatibility's sake. This is because WINE is in effect our GNU/Linux system's best attempt to bend to the ways win software are designed to run, and this is just another accommodation of their software's peculiar needs.
I am not a WINE dev, not yet anyway. So I don't know at what point the detection should best be done, but this seems to be a small and one-shot solution. Another alternative is to put the same thing into WINE-Tricks when the mscorefonts are downloaded and installed. Especially since the directory where they are being put is known as a matter of course. As I said, I don't know where this function should be put but this is the cure for most of this foolishness.
WINE runs these games and other attractions so well now it's a shame something is trivial as this is preventing some non-technical people from enjoying GNU/Linux more.
Dave
