Sorry, but it's not critical to Wine. It's just a 'normal' bug. Please, change
that. And do attach output as text on this bugzilla, not as a screenshot saved
somewhere else.

Which version of notepad++ do you use? And which distro?

Have you tried the same version with earlier versions of Wine successfully? If
yes, could you run a regression test to find out what went wrong,
please. That would help solving this a lot.

I don't seem to be able to reproduce this issue with a clean Wine prefix and
installing and running Notepad++ 4.8.2, even with the userDefineLang.xml tweak
that was linked. Perhaps you need to try starting with a clean prefix?

Screenshot of Notepad after adding userDefineLang.xml

I installed Notepad++ with userDefineLang.xml as instructed and had no problem
at all. Everything works perfectly. See Screenshot. The text changed
immediately nicely once I saved the file.

However, as I was writing this report and started browsing for the screenshot
from my desktop, Notepad++ still open, Firefox crashed... I'll investigate, if
that is reproducible. There might be same cause, or not. The effect is very
different in any case.

It seems the uninstall didn't work properly for me. So I wasn't able to
reinstall in the same way, but got various errors. Very erratic behaviour...

I really cannot tell what was the cause, because I wasn't able to repeat
exactly the same steps. And now it's getting too late here for more fighting
with bugs.

You have to save the userDefineLang.xml in the app-data path (if you dont
checked the "dont use %appdata%" at the installation of notepad++) otherwise
you have to save this file in the installation dir of notepad++. To check if it
works: Click on the Language Menu and look if there is the language you added!

Now I can tell for sure, that the uninstall for notepad++ doesn't work. I still
have notepad++ 4.8.2 here, and everything - including userDefineLang.xml -
working at least seemingly perfectly. But uninstall not working is another bug
from this one, and I'll open a new bug for it. The crash I saw first may have
been of same origin as bug 11595, but I really cannot tell.

i downloaded the npp.4.8.2.bin.zip now and deleted all old stuff (files,
regedit)
but my userDefinedLang.xml is already in the installation dir of notepad++.
now it will be displayed great but when i click on settings -> prefrences the
toolbar isn't there :-(
there's some other display problems... i dont know what goes wrong :-(

I've just run through the steps to reproduce this (as part of the BugDay :) )
and Notepad++ displayed correctly even after using the userDefinedLang.xml.
