I just had to restart Steam because of an update on 14 aug 2014.
One of the new feature of the update is a modification to the internal browser
so that it loads faster.

After restarting only the game library is usable, clicking any online option
results in a blank page that loads indefinitely.
I did not try to download anything from the steam client.

Looks like bug 37006 where APB:Reloaded hangs because of internal Gecko browser
not loading.

The issue people experience is "Steam browser not loading pages", not "Steam
requiring fonts".

Obviously the summary of your bug is incorrect because nobody will find it
without already knowing what the fix to the issue is.

The title of bug 37114 is way better and that's too bad that it is marked
CLOSED although it is the bug that people will find and it is actually not
resolved.
