Summary: NVIDIA drivers crashing X, looking like wine bug (RESOLVED) Product: Wine Version: 0.9.53. Platform: Other OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: x11-driver AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: arno@teigseth.no
Created an attachment (id=10437) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=10437) extract of Xorg.log
Running "wine notepad" (any application really) crashes X. But running "wine --version" does not.
I tailed the Xorg.log (see attached) and found that actually the nvidia 3rd party driver crashed. Guess some update to X was done without reinstalling the drivers.
How to fix: 1 Kill running xserver(s) 2 Reinstall NVIDIA 3rd party drivers. 3 restart gdm or xserver(s).
I submit this bug here because it _did look a lot like a wine bug_:
mplayer with hardware acceleration worked, firefox and various media player plugins worked, in general X seemed OK. But running an application thru wine killed the X session and restarted gdm. But wine wasn't guilty... :)
