Summary: Weird Dutch translation for Program files folder Product: Wine Version: 1.0.1 Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: trivial Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: VincentBeers@gmail.com
In the Dutch localization of Wine, Program files gets translated as "Programma bestanden". This is:
- Inconsistent with Windows behaviour, which ALWAYS uses the name "Program files". - Bad grammar, it becomes "Programmabestanden" in Dutch, but it doesn't make it sound any better.
Requesting the name to be reverted to "Program files".

It's "Program files", I've never seen it spelt any other way (regarding the non-capitalization of "files"). Currently on a non-Windows PC so I can't screenshot it though.

--- Comment #5 from Martijn van Maurik combro2k@hotmail.com 2008-12-29 04:45:16 --- There are alot of default english names inside the windows folders on the dutch installation for example Application Data instead of Applicatie Data, there is no dutch translation for that inside the windows folders. The default installation program folder is "Program Files", Only in the Start Menu there is a ` Programma's ` instead of ` All Programs ` So that makes the confusion I guess for you guys ;-) So the correct ones are:
Program Files for the installation files Local Settings -> Local Settings Application Data -> Application Data Start Menu -> Start Menu Desktop -> Bureaublad --> that one was good Favorites -> Favorieten -> correct SentTo -> SentTo
See screenshot for more information

And also the `Gemeenschappelijke Bestanden` has to be just default: `Common Files` as normal ;)
More question feel free to reply ;)

--- Comment #8 from Vincent Beers VincentBeers@gmail.com 2009-07-14 11:10:13 --- Found some more.
Koekies should be Cookies, just like in English. (Koekies isn't a valid Dutch word to indicate cookies.) Tijdelijke Internet Bestanden should be Tijdelijke Internetbestanden. Just a minor typo.
I'll be checking the rest of the file right now. Seems there are more translation errors. Is it easy for me to try and create my own patch (I've never actually made a patch before)?
