Tried running xu4 and the application hangs on startup.
This is an open source application that allows the Ultima 4 Dos binaries to be
run on modern systems.
The binaries are free (as in beer) and can be downloaded from the xu4 website:

Could you try this on a fresh new ~/.wine please?
The crash you see comes from

C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe,

it's not very likely that that is installed with the application, but probably
installed by another previously installed app.

ok, I removed wine and deleted the .wine directory and reinstalled.
I think the problem must be my sound card, though I havent had issues with
other programs.
Im still having the same issue but the output is less:
