Microsoft Office XP installs with no error, although each time I run
WINWORD.EXE an installer window pops up and seems to (successfully)
reinstall/re-register some components before displaying the main program
window.

There is no point in specifying a component unless you've debugged the problem.
CVS/GIT tag is deprecated, please specify what 'wine --version' reports.

Hi!

I don't think this is really a bug, it does the same on Windows when ran with
restricted priviliges (on a network)...

Wine doesn't run with restricted (windows) privileges. It runs as an
administrator as far as applications are concerned.

* I used this instruction to install Office XP (Russian)
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5163#c83
* I removed overridden dlls in winecfg.
* wine EXCEL.EXE and wine POWERPNT.EXE start just fine without reinstall
window.
* wine WINWORD.EXE keeps reinstalling at every startup.

Workaround is to start winword.exe using .lnk file:

wine start /Unix ~/.wine/dosdevices/c:/windows/profiles/USERNAME/Start\
menu/Programs/Microsoft\ Word.lnk

Replace "USERNAME" with yours.

LinkInfo (http://wincmd.ru/plugring/linkinfo.html) .lnk viewer doesn't show
anything unusual, though.

Another workaround is to start it using dosdevices folder:
wine ~/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program\ Files/Microsoft\
Office/Office10/WINWORD.EXE

Works in latest git version of wine. Word works very well and there is no
reinstalling process.

To install office I had to use the hack from

If anyone is still able to reproduce feel free to reopen.
