Bug #: 30969 Summary: Tron 2.0 - No music while playing game and in menu Product: Wine Version: 1.4 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-dmusic AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: an0nym0usse@hotmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 40628 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=40628 output when launching Tron.exe
No music while playing game and in menu.
The game install with no problem
I add the msvcirt.dll in system32 like suggested on the wine site
All seems to go well, the first setting menu launch with sound
After that the diverse publishing companies videos are played with sound.
After a couple of seconds the Game menu appears with sound effects but NO MUSIC. No music while playing the game too.
You can look for clues in attachment1
When I re-install WMFADist.exe (probably audio codecs) included in Tron 2.0 cd it seem to install without a problem but in the console it give some errors:
zool@Satellite-M40:~/JEUX/Progz/Win32/Tron2$ wine WMFADist.exe fixme:setupapi:SetupDefaultQueueCallbackW notification 262144 params 32f84c,0 err:setupapi:SetupDefaultQueueCallbackW copy error 0 L"C:\users\zool\Temp\IXP000.TMP\msdmo.dll" -> L"C:\windows\system32\msdmo.dll" fixme:setupapi:SetupDefaultQueueCallbackW notification 262144 params 32f84c,0 err:setupapi:SetupDefaultQueueCallbackW copy error 0 L"C:\users\zool\Temp\IXP000.TMP\msvcrt.dll" -> L"C:\windows\system32\msvcrt.dll" fixme:sfc:SFC_3 0 fixme:sfc:SFC_3 0 fixme:ole:TLB_ReadTypeLib Header type magic 0x00905a4d not supported. err:ole:TLB_ReadTypeLib Loading of typelib L"C:\windows\system32\logagent.exe" failed with error 0 err:ole:TLB_ReadTypeLib Loading of typelib L"C:\windows\system32\logagent.tlb" failed with error 2

--- Comment #2 from Ronny Schmatzler schmatzler@googlemail.com --- This applies to a lot of Lithtech engine games (NOLF, TRON etc.). I link the bug to them.
Attached is a log of Tron 2.0. NOLF doesn't work atm because of a regression so I can't submit an actual output.

I can run the single player demo okay and I also get sound effects in the main menu (no music though).
I got the demo from this site: http://www.4players.de/4players.php/download_start/Downloads/Download/5438.h...
When launching an "Easy" game the application crashes. Output is attached.

--- Comment #5 from Ronny Schmatzler schmatzler@googlemail.com --- @Maik:
Please file a separate bug for this if you have problem with the game crashing out. This bug is related to the dmusic problems in Tron 2.0 and other Lithtech games.
You should try the latest wine version, I tested the Demo, 1.0 and 1.042. All of them work now, just without music.

--- Comment #6 from Ronny Schmatzler schmatzler@googlemail.com --- No One Lives Forever has music with native overrides now (wine 1.7.29). Without them, the game crashes.
TRON 2.0 has no music. No luck with the native overrides on this game.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30969
--- Comment #7 from Ronny Schmatzler schmatzler@googlemail.com --- The music in TRON 2.0 works now, too. But only with native overrides.
"winetricks dsound dmusic" is needed. Also, Windows Media Redistributable 7.1 has to be installed, which should come with the game.

--- Comment #8 from Ronny Schmatzler schmatzler@googlemail.com --- Still happening on 1.9.1.

Does the bug still occur with wine-5.3?
Though I haven't tried TRON 2.0, it still happens with No One Lives Forever on wine 5.17. Many of the stubs for the first log on this bug are still present.
For NOLF, the following native dlls are required for music to work: dmband, dmime, dmstyle (to avoid crashing, see https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49850 ), dmsynth, and dmusic.

`winetricks -q directmusic` still works around.

--- Comment #13 from Matheus matheus.venturini@acad.ufsm.br --- I had previously added this information to bug 9027, I hadn't realized The Operative: No One Lives Forever was already listed as affected under this issue...
The only part of the game that has music (as far as I'm aware) is the opening sequence right after the tutorial where the main theme plays.
The "Mega Mix Pack" demo of the game can be downloaded here: https://www.moddb.com/games/no-one-lives-forever/downloads/no-one-lives-fore... Running SETUP.EXE crashes immediately, but the demo can be played by running Game/NOLFDEMO.exe. Immediately upon starting, there should be no music in the main menu.
The "1.0" demo of the game can be downloaded here: https://archive.org/details/TheOperativeNoOneLivesForeverDemo This version also crashes when trying to run SETUP.EXE, but Game/NOLFDEMO.exe will ask for the CD to be inserted in the tray for it to launch.
In case it is helpful, the game is open source and it can be accessed here: https://github.com/osgcc/no-one-lives-forever

This is a log of me playing through some of the tutorial levels on a fresh prefix. I was playing with virtual desktop enabled, but no music plays regardless of that.

--- Comment #15 from Matheus matheus.venturini@acad.ufsm.br --- I tested with the latest development version (8.19) both The Operative: No One Lives Forever games and they still have no music, despite Tron 2.0 now having music. Wine still outputs some errors related to dmusic.
