Summary: Supermemo 2004 mp3 codec issue Product: Wine Version: 0.9.39. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-multimedia AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: cromo@klej.net
Since 2004 [1] version, Supermemo allows playing mp3 files, thus making it possible to reduce the size of learning databases. However it needs needs mp3 codec installed for it to work. Under Windows 2000 running natively I had to install the Fraunhofer 3.32 codec (available from any K-Lite pack) to make it play mp3 files fine. Before I used to get MCI errors. On the other hand, when trying to play mp3 file under win 0.9.39 with Supermemo 2004 I kept getting: "fixme:mci:MCI_LoadMciDriver Couldn't load driver for type L"MPEGVIDEO"." fixme error. I hoped that installing Fraunhofer coded would help here, too, but unfortunately it didn't help at all and I am still getting the same error as before the installation. I looked into registry and could see the correct HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\drivers32\ keys, i.e. msacm.l3acm and msacm.l3codec, both with "l3codecp.acm" value. Also the l3codecp.acm file was in place in .wine(...)\windows\system32 directory.
Hence I assume this is a bug to be fixed.
Steps to reproduce: 1) Download Demo Version [1] 2) Run, File -> New Collection or File -> Open Collection (choose any) 3) File -> Level -> Professional 4) Windows -> Toolbar -> Compose 5) Click at the speaker icon on the toolbar that has just shown up 6) click inside the window, stretch and release button. 7) Right click on the item created, Links -> External File, and choose any mp3 file 8) See the error message and fix it ;-)
