This sort of problem used to occur for me all the time with RedHat 6.2 (buggy 
compiler). This is probably fixed in 20040213. If it is still broken you might 
want upgrade to a newer version of Linux. But there is still a reason to fix it 
so it works on these older kernels. (Just my opinion) let us know how it works 
out.
