I downloaded Wine (1.1.44 that comes with WineBottler) and WineBottler for Mac OS X 10.4.11. I then downloaded and installed the game DarkAges without problem. When I try to run it a window for X11 opens and then I get a black program window, but then I get a message saying, "The program Darkages.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close."

I actually did try to update Wine but it said it wasn't compatible with my operating system, and anyway this is the one that comes with WineBottler for Macs (since Wine on its own isn't available for Macs right?). I might just be doing something wrong because I'm pretty computer illiterate. Thanks for your help!

Wine on its own is only in source code form. It compiles fine on Macs (though it's a bit more work than other OS's).

The particulars of installing Wine on a specific platform are out of scope for a bug tracker; you should try the Wine forums or other appropriate venue. Resolving invalid.
