It always works for me. You mean it crashes with an error window or shows a
black screen? (tested in wine-1.5.7-252-g1f01355).

Just a note: the window needs to be focused for the game screen to appear,
otherwise it will wait until it get focus, is this your problem?

Did you update wine and the problem was fixed? If you're still able to
reproduce the issue then the bug is not fixed.

Sorry, I can't tell you, because when I test it (on Debian) in version 1.4, it
doesn't work, but now (in Ubuntu) it working (in version 1.4 too). So maybe
delete this bug report ...

This bug circumstances are still unclear, I'm reopening it otherwise it will be
wrongly closed during today's release cycle.
