After applying the render-issue patch I managed to pass the cell stage and now am in the creature stage. There, when trying to select a colour for the creature, there is a black circle overlay that covers the creature display.
When taking the creature for a test drive (to see how it moves etc) there is a weird small black copy of the creature on the screen. It could be a misdrawn shadow

What happens without patch? That patch is a hack as seen from your other bug report.

What other bug report? The patch is not a hack, it's the one necessary to play the game as seen in the HowTo.
Without the patch you cannot play the game as the graphics are completely out of whack.

I couldn't see as the game was unplayable. However I will try again now that I've managed to reach the creature stage and get back to you this afternoon.

There is not shadow issue but it's not usable either.
