Please provide a wine log
wine application 2>log.txt
No one here read application internal error messages. Makes no sense to us at all.

--- Comment #3 from Jason Bogstie jason.bogstie@gmail.com 2008-10-22 17:43:50 --- I am the maintainer for this game in the AppDB. Someone found a workaround that resolves this issue. Please see the AppDB entry for more information, but the basics is this:
People are almost universally having issues with the game crashing, in order to resolve this issue perform the following:
* Update to the newest version of wine found here * Launch winecfg * Under the 'Applications' tab select 'Add Application' * Browse to Program Files - Steam - steamapps - [steamloginname] - zombie panic! source - select hl2.exe and click 'open' This should add hl2.exe to your applications list in winecfg. * Select hl2.exe under the 'Applications' tab, click the drop-down menu for 'Windows Version' and select Windows 98. * Click 'OK'
This will force wine to run the game as windows 98 and any problems with crashing should be gone.

--- Comment #4 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-01-19 15:16:12 --- Removing deprecated CVS/GIT version tag. Please retest in current git. If the bug is still present in today's wine, but was not present in some earlier version of wine, please update version field to earliest known version of wine that had the bug. Thanks!
