Summary: Picasa unable to videos correctly, even after codecs are installed. Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-quartz AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: matthaeus123@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=8515) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=8515) Console log for after video file has started playing
Picasa unable to videos correctly, even after codecs are installed. I got all of the codecs and DLLs needed to play video clips through Picasa. The sound (of 1 sec of play) plays and loops continuously. And Picasa says that it is playing, but it never stops playing the file.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Picasa 2. Put all codecs and DLLs that are needed to play the video clips. 3. Run Picasa from console 4. Make sure that Picasa is able to scan a folder that has .avi and or .mpg files. 5. Give it 5 - 10 min to scan files 6. After files are scanned, and show up as indexed. Then, try to play the video files. 7. Once file has started to play, check the system console for Fixme's.
What is expected to happen: You'll see a lot of Quartz based Fixmes.
What should happen: The video should play correctly and should play sound correctly.

--- Comment #1 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2007-10-11 13:01:28 --- Can you provide an example video along with a link to the codec that should be able to handle it?
This all may be a dup of bug 3362.

--- Comment #2 from matt matthaeus123@gmail.com 2007-10-11 13:03:33 --- This is connected to 3362, but not a dupe. 3362 deals with Picasa and having a lack of codecs. While, this bug is saying that even with the codecs Quartz is unable to play a video

--- Comment #3 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2007-10-11 13:04:09 --- Fine... but we still need an example video and the codec that is supposed to be able to read it.

I didn't mean to sound snappy. I just wanted to clairify that.
I'll get you the stuff later today or more likely tomorrow.

--- Comment #5 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-04-15 01:35:30 --- Is this still an issue in current (0.9.59 or newer) wine? If so, can you please provide the video/codec to reproduce?

--- Comment #6 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2008-04-15 02:33:48 --- I think 'winetricks allcodecs' ought to install useful codecs... Maarten and Dan Hipschman have been working on Quartz, perhaps this will start to work soon?

AFAIK Picasa uses Video For Windows not quartz.
