Summary: [The Settlers IV] Can't see the game display after starting Product: Wine Version: 0.9.59. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: games.jan@googlemail.com
Created an attachment (id=12345) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=12345) output after starting the game
I installed The Settlers IV without any problems. When i start the game with "wine S4.exe" i can see the videos but then i only get an orangebrown window. I can't see any game items.
I tried it with the following setting in video.cfg: ForceBlit = 1 PureSoftwareMode = 0 ShowVideos = 1
and even with ForceBlit = 1 PureSoftwareMode = 1 ShowVideos = 0
always the same error/problem.

--- Comment #1 from Lei Zhang thestig@google.com 2008-04-21 23:12:28 --- Can you try running the game at 32 bpp or switch X to 16 bpp?

--- Comment #2 from Bastian Grupe bgrupe@gmail.com 2008-05-04 08:40:32 --- I had the same problem but it was solvable by adding 16bpp modelines into the xorg.conf. Those modelines are no longer created automagically by Ubuntu >= 7.10.

--- Comment #3 from Jan Malte games.jan@googlemail.com 2008-05-05 04:56:39 --- How can i add 16bpp modelines into the xorg.conf? Or start the game with 32 bpp?

--- Comment #4 from Bastian Grupe bgrupe@gmail.com 2008-05-05 05:18:03 --- An easy (but for me working) hack is to boot the Ubuntu 7.04 livecd and copy over its generated xorg.conf to your host system (remember to backup yours) since Ubuntu 7.04 should generate the "old" format of xorg.conf which can still be used. If that doesn't work for you I can post some sample snippets how to generally modify the xorg.conf.
