Summary: Graphic Corruption in Assassin's Creed Product: Wine Version: 1.0-rc1 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: steffen.rilk@gmail.com
First of all the game looks great although tends to really drop in speed like already posted. I ran the game with :
WINEDEBUG=-all wine AssassinsCreed_Dx9.exe > /dev/null 2>&1 &
had to get orig : xinput1_3.dll, and some d3dx9_*.dll
I see three graphic bugs in Assassin's Creed (AC) 1) 3d Objects have "shadows" or dublicates of them selves. This remembers me of the directx blur bug in "Silkroad" which had the same look , but was gone at some point (turning blur of in Silk made it look okay again, but its long ago...cant say for sure) 2) some textures are just missing, holes in the ground , i try to attach a pic 3) Right after finishing the tutorial and the game saves the first time, wine has sever problems with the layer of textures? The floor, bottom texture is at a wrong height and people fly in the air, when ascending the mountain, the floor texture is too high and at the height of everyones head , letting people walk through the ground.
I hope this is not graphics driver related , because i remember having much less bugs , for instance, when i switched from ATI to nvidia in several games. Here is my specs:
Archlinux rolling release, X86 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 4400 @ 2.00GHz ( sometimes at 3.4 G) 2048 MB RAM NVIDIA 8800 GTS with NVIDIA 171.06.01 drivers

maybe missing textures relate to water not being drawn : http://img259.imageshack.us/my.php?image=200805120054541280x1024um2.png

--- Comment #4 from Florian mcflow-forum@gmx.net 2008-06-26 04:51:01 --- They are partly gone... yes. I recorded a little scene of Assassin's Creed to show how the game runs (at least on my machine). Sometimes there are still "graphic corruptions". I don't know if they are meant to be like it. For example you can see it at the begin when I just punch into the air. Altair get's kind of blury. As well when I enter the first little city. FPS really dropped down. In that blue smoke it was ok, btw. In the video the blur cannot be seen exactly due to youtubes qualitiy... Tested on: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2GB Ram Nvidia GeForce 8600GTS (OpenGL version string: 2.1.2 NVIDIA 173.14.05) Wine-1.0 compiled with patch for the mouse issue (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=10119) The Video can be found at: http://youtube.com/watch?v=JcCouQwWSgQ
