Summary: StarCraft2 in-game cinematics are often shown with blackareas Product: Wine Version: 1.2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: NightNord@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=30201) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=30201) Black rectangle
ATI HD4570, wine-1.2/1.3.0, kernel 2.6.35, fglrx-10.7
At any in-game cinematic when some hero specking from video-panel, but not from simulated "battle screen" in small rectangle at left side, but at full (screenshot, conversations with Nova, Valerian) size there is any of: 1) Black rectangle 2) Black profile of specking hero/space scene environments.
Also, second screenshot attached shows, that same (probably) bug exist in any other non-battle-screen video-panel action.
Screenshot is done with UseGLSL=disabled orm=pbuffer VideoMemorySize=512 All settings are unrelated

Gentoo linux X64 Nvidia-drivers 256.44
Can other folks confirm that this happens only with ATI hardware?

--- Comment #8 from firefly weasel2@hotmail.com 2010-08-26 16:37:39 --- Mandriva 2010.0 x86 Wine 1.3.1 Kernel 2.6.31.13 ATI Catalyst 10.7 2 x ATI Radeon HD 4850 (1GB DDR3) with crossfire enabled
I am seeing black patches when using medium shaders in the in game video settings.
The video settings in-game that stay the same
lighting = low terrain = ultra reflections = on effect = ultra post-processing = med physics = ultra models = high unit portraits = 3D movies = high
The video settings in-game that I am changing is the shaders setting. When you change shaders though you inevitably change shadows.
shaders = low gives shadows = low
or
shaders = medium gives shadows = medium/high/ultra
When shaders is set to medium I get the black areas in different areas of the ship. I attached pictures that end with "shaders on medium" to give a brief idea what I'm talking about.
When shaders is set to low shadows is also set to low. Everything seems to render properly when in the low setting but the graphics are noticeably poorer then on medium.
Screenshot is done with the following regedits
DirectDrawRenderer = opengl (sets renderer to opengl) MultiSampling = enabled (not sure) OffScreenRenderingMode = backbuffer (prevents garbled glass looking screen) PixelShaderModel = enabled (not sure) RenderTargetlockMode = readtex (not sure) UseGLSL = disabled (enables in-game effects) VideoMemorySize = 1024 (sets video card mem size)
Since I have two video cards each with 1024 megs could I possibly change video memory to 2048?
From everything I have read I see that this is a common problem faced by people
using an ATI card. I would bet that this is ATI specific as the previous poster mentioned.
I see that nVidia card users have shaders set to ultra or high which is not even possible for me.
