------- Additional Comments From ciudadsoledad@flashmail.com 2005-28-07 16:19 ------- This bug is very important for us who have used accented characters in file names.
Wine versions since about 2004 (I can't really tell) freeze if an attempt is made to read a vfat partition mounted with the UTF8 option, or a symbolic link to such partition, displaying some message on the console about windows 95 filenames.
Older versions of wine can read utf8 mounted vfat directories only if they contain only MS-DOS 8.3 complying names.
With such older versions and vfat in kernel 2.6 it is possible to read with the correct long names both in Wine and Linux if the /etc/fstab entry for the partition has both "codepage=iso8859-1" and "utf8" options.
