--- Comment #1 from winetest@luukku.com --- Latest version? 1.7.50?
Is that really the latest you can install?
There already 3 branches of wine 1.8, 1.9 and 2.0. The higher the number the more wine patches are included.

No, Actually i used the latest version of Wine in both Ubuntu and Linux Mint. While filing this bug report i was using Knoppix and Wine version 1.7.50 came pre-installed in the Latest version on Knoppix.
Tried Both the latest development release and Stable Release.

--- Comment #5 from BieHDC byi5000@gmail.com --- I am on Wine 2.6-staging 64-Bit and i just installed Google Chrome 58.0.3029.81 (to be exact) 64-bit.
1. you download the offline installer https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/desktop/index.html?standalone=...
2. execute the installer with "wine wine ChromeStandaloneSetup64.exe"
3. let it process and keep an eye on the terminal until it says something like: wine: Unhandled exception 0x80000003 in thread 175 at address 0x140062892 (thread 0175), starting debugger... ((can vary at your install))
4. Open your favourite linux task manager, i use mate-system-monitor
5. you will see different "setup.exe"s there, search for the one with the command line like: C:\users\YOUR_USERSAME\Temp\CR_72C6E.tmp\setup.exe --type=crashpad-handler /prefetch:7 --database=C:\windows\temp\Crashpad --url=https://clients2.google.com/cr/report --annotation
6. Kill that process
7. Your installation should now finish flawless
8. Start chrome with the --no-sandbox flag and here you go
Some websites (google.com) didn't load for me and i don't know why and duckduckgo loaded without a problem. Someone should investigate that ;)
I installed chrome due firefox won't launch battlefield 3 on windows and for testing in wine i hope chrome will do the job Tomorrow they could update the chrome installer and break this workaround, so be away of that. Have fun!

--- Comment #6 from BieHDC byi5000@gmail.com --- Short Addition: If your wine environment doesn't close because of GoogleUpdate.exe, just rename that file located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Update and you are good to go

--- Comment #7 from Ken Sharp imwellcushtymelike@gmail.com --- Does this still occur in Wine 9.8 or later?
I see a different issue with current Chrome and the URL is dead.
