Bug #: 28781 Summary: No sound come from DSound application Product: Wine Version: 1.3.30 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-dsound AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: elettronik@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
After the abandon of Jack audio driver I used snd-aloop module of alsa to make a Loopback cards that connect to JAck server.
After rewrite of dsound to make use of mmdev api the Loopback card stop working, even the real card, after stop jackd using that use it, work.
I tried to look at trace of dsound and alsa but seeem there's no clue on what appen. Maybe could dsound only look first card of system or something like this?

--- Comment #1 from Andrew Eikum aeikum@codeweavers.com 2011-10-27 09:27:59 CDT --- Hi,
Is this still an issue in Wine 1.3.31? It contains a patch (c8c6cc97bcaab5441ea200041bb7cc99c4ba01fb) which fixes some dsound device selection problems.

I do test with two games: World of Warcraft 3.3.5, Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. The first (WoW) works on windows7 setting but not with windows xp setting; latter (war3) don't work with neither of them. I attach a log of the two games running just menu screen. The file are named after game and setting used.

--- Comment #5 from Andrew Eikum aeikum@codeweavers.com 2012-01-16 13:16:31 CST --- Is this still a problem with Wine 1.3.37?
This might be a device selection problem. Have you selected your loop device as the default in winecfg? Is your loop device present in winecfg?
If that doesn't work, can you give me a little more information? For example, your asound.conf file where you create the snd-aloop device would be useful. Is your snd-aloop device named "default" or something else? An updated set of logs would be useful (most useful would be broken WOW in XP mode and working WOW in Win7 mode).
