Summary: Supreme Commander won't let me select high fidelity Product: Wine Version: 1.0-rc4 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: liquitsnake@gmx.net
This game let's me select high fidelity in the options on Windows on the same hardware. In Wine, I can only choose between Low and Medium. I think the game determines the available options on the graphics capabilities that get reported to it. So I don't know if it's really a Wine problem or one of the Linux Nvidia driver (I use 169.12 on GF8600GT. Even a 6800LE on Windows allows for high fidelity)
I'm happy to help in case of further questions (like testing what capabilites the game asks for)

--- Comment #1 from Enrico Enrico_m@gmx.de 2008-06-16 14:32:42 --- I have the same issue with NVIDIA 8800GT and driver version 173.14.05 (Wine 1.0-rc5). I guess the problem is located somewhere between wine and the nvidia drivers.

--- Comment #3 from Jérôme Gardou jgardou@yahoo.fr 2008-06-25 12:57:39 --- Here, you can find an app which lists the direct3d capabilities of your hardware. http://zp.amsnet.pl/cdragan/d3dcaps.html
run it in both wine and windows and compare them. The difference should show you what's wrong.

The latest Wine (1.1.0) lets me to cshoose high level detail or texture detail. I suppose this bug has been fixet, but I have just ran Direct3D Caps and I'll attach the results. (I used Wine 1.1.0 and a WinXP)

--- Comment #7 from haarp liquitsnake@gmx.net 2008-06-28 16:04:59 --- LOD and Texture level always allowed for High settings, this is not news. This bug is NOT fixed. I confirmed that Fidelity still can only be set to Medium in 1.1.0.
On a related note, it seems that a few new effects seem to be working now in SupCom. Oh wonderful explosions!

This is from just starting the game and going into the options menu, only to see that high fidelity is still not available. Exited the game after that.

--- Comment #12 from Jérôme Gardou jerome.gardou@laposte.net 2009-02-01 17:17:19 --- Seems like the latest nvidia driver, with opengl 3.0 support for geforce 8xxx and newer let me select high fidelity. I can only choose medium for shadows though.
Is this a problem with older cards?
