1. 'winetricks corefonts' (Arial font family is needed) 2. 'winetricks gdiplus'
Either of them makes QuickTime Player happy and it starts fine here. Bug #30507 describes a similar problem with another application. Tested with Quicktime 7.6.9 and 7.7.1 on Fedora 17.

Maybe you have msttcorefonts installed on your system, that's why you can't see it crashing? Still crashes here with latest Wine without corefonts installed.

When starting QuickTimePlayer.exe normally in Wine (without winedbg), the application crashes shortly after starting. There is no backtrace generated, though.

When starting the application from inside winedbg, the application hangs (instead of crashing), and I receive the attached backtrace.
