Bug ID: 35399 Summary: Graphical bug since Nvidia driver update Product: Wine Version: 1.7.10 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: berillions@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 47225 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=47225 Invisible Sea
Hi,
Actually, there is a graphical bug when i play at FarCry with the Nvidia driver 331.20 from Debian repository.
As you can see in the screeshot, the water in the ocean is not drawn, it's invisible.
After some test, the bug can be gone by these workaround : 1- Use Nvidia driver 331.20 and disable UseGLSL 2- Downgrade Nvidia driver from 331.20 to 319.76
I open this bug report but i don't if this bug can be resolved by patch/correction in Wine. Or i must only send a message to Nvidia.
Thanks, Max

Graphic problem with latest Nvidia driver.

--- Comment #3 from Berillions berillions@gmail.com --- Still no one to discuss about this bug. Even if this graphcal bug appear since Nvidia 331.x driver, disabled UseGLGL fix it. So, something in Wine break the graphism no ?
But, if i read here : http://wiki.winehq.org/UsefulRegistryKeys It's not recommanded to disabled UseGLSL, only to debug.
Thanks,

From your description it sounds like a regression in the nvidia GLSL compiler.

So i must to contact Nvidia about this regression in their Nvidia driver ? (and how i can contact Nvidia ?) Or it can be fix in wine directly ?
Thanks Henri,

It seems likely that the issue is in the driver, but it could still turn out to be a bug in Wine. Unfortunately we won't really know until someone spends time debugging it, either on the driver side or on the Wine side. NVIDIA used to have a mail address for reporting bugs in the Linux driver, linux-bugs@nvidia.com. I think that still exists, although the last time I tried using it the response I got wasn't terribly helpful.

You can close this bug report, the new stable version of Nvidia driver fix the bug.
In such cases we close the bug as upstream, not fixed because they would mix with valid wine bugs.
